On 19 April 1923, Lodewijk Poiesz and his Wietske opened a 12m2 greengrocer's shop on Havenstraat in Sneek. Exactly a century later, the vegetable shop from Sneek has multiplied into the supermarket of the North, with more than 70 supermarkets and liquor stores in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel and Flevoland. Every day, more than 5,000 employees put their best foot forward to provide customers with the best possible service. Service, quality and freshness are the components that Poiesz likes to excel in and that can be seen in the Noordertrots (Proud of being from the North of the Netherlands) brand, for example. Only products of high quality and a Northern origin deserve the label’ Noordertrots’. In this way, the customer can enjoy the tastiest Northern specialties, such as sugar bread, orange cake and dry sausage and dairy products made from the milk of farmers in the North. The ‘Noordertrots’ products make it clear that, as a family business, Poiesz feels connected to the region in which it is active.
This is also observed from the annual Youth Sponsor Action, in which Poiesz supports youth departments of associations in the vicinity of the branches. Poiesz has been a household name in the North for over 100 years and continues to build with confidence, so that future generations can also count on Poiesz!
